← So nice to hear good feedback…=) Wordle →So, I’ve been doing some freelancing and its just been a learning experience for me. I know there are a lot of things that I need to know and I’m learning and picking up things as a go along.
two main issue which I’ve learned is:
Payments I learned from my mistake in the summer, thinking I could trust a client, but in the end it was just my own fault. All those hours I spent doing work for this client and in the end I didnt get my payment.. So, now I live by this rule..ALWAYS get your payments first; either half of it and the other half when you’re done, because as a freelancer you’re the only one looking after yourself and it’s your time spent on a project. Why waste all your time on a project when you wont get paid in the end?
Ask more questions, It’s always good to ask more questions, knowing more about your project the less stress and the less work for you. I learned this the hard way, but then again I wouldn’t have known if it didn’t happen to me. For every project, you should always ask what type of file it is whether it’s a psd file, flash, Ai..etc(updating an existing file or new file) and also before you put a charge on any project, make sure to ask what you are editing and how many things/items are going into this file. You shouldn’t assume, that’s what I’ve learned. ‘Cause in the end it’ll only take up your time and your effort with less money in your pocket.
I’m slowly learning, but one thing I’m starting now is writing down all my mistakes! Its a learning experience and what better way to remember?

Cheers!

…..stupid low res photos!
nice blog! solid colour scheme and template. luckily i haven’t had the non-payment part happen to me yet, but i have did give a rough estimate quot for a job and then halfway thru found out i had a lot more work to do than anticipated so i did more work for less money.
always give an estimate but never a “it will cost this exact amount” before you start! track your hours and make sure you get paid.
